Delhi NCR-based astrology platform AstroTalkAstroTalk Datalabs_in-article-icon has joined India’s unicorn club after conducting an ESOP buyback at a valuation of $1 Bn, sources told Inc42.

More than 100 employees sold shares in the buyback, the sources added. With this, Astrotalk has become the country’s 133rd unicorn.

Astrotalk confirmed the ESOP exercise and the valuation to Inc42. However, it did not disclose the size of the buyback or the number of shares repurchased.

The development comes as Astrotalk claims to have crossed an annual revenue run rate (ARR) of ₹2,500 Cr, driven by the growth of its core astrology-consultation platform and its expansion into spiritual ecommerce.

Founded in 2017 by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain, Astrotalk earns revenue by levying a fee on customers for consultations offered by astrologers on its platform.

Astrotalk has raised $34 Mn from investors including Elev8 Venture Partners, Left Lane Capital and QED Investors. Its last disclosed financing was part of its Series A round.

It claims to have served over 4 Cr users to date. Besides India, the platform’s services are used in the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, among others.

Astrotalk’s operating revenue nearly doubled to ₹1,176 Cr in the financial year ended March 2025 (FY25) from ₹651 Cr in the previous fiscal. Its net profit jumped 2.5X to ₹250 Cr from ₹100 Cr in FY24.

Astrotalk entered the spiritual ecommerce segment in November 2024 with the launch of Astrotalk Store, which sells gemstones, rudraksha, bracelets, necklaces and other spiritual products.

The ecommerce business began scaling commercially in January 2025 and generated more than ₹140 Cr in operating revenue during its first 12 months, according to the startup.

Astrotalk said the vertical has since reached an ARR of ₹300 Cr, emerging as another revenue engine alongside its core consultations business.

The startup now plans to expand Astrotalk Store through offline retail, with its first experiential outlet likely to open in the Delhi NCR region over the next few months. It is scouting larger-format locations as it looks to build a presence in organised spiritual retail.

Astrotalk is also preparing to take its ecommerce business overseas. The startup plans to launch an international ecommerce website, beginning with the US, to tap demand from the non-resident Indian population.
