Cars24 has launched Deployment Inc, an enterprise AI venture backed with $5 Mn from the company to help businesses deploy frontier AI models through FDE teams

The venture plans to hire 50 engineers, target sectors including BFSI, healthcare, manufacturing and logistics, and counts Cars24 as its first customer and OpenAI as an enterprise deployment partner
Adding to its AI initiatives, used car marketplace Cars24
announced the launch of an independent enterprise AI company, Deployment Inc, to help organisations design, implement and operate AI systems across critical business workflows.
Helmed by Cars24’s executive Jayesh Gupta and former xAI backend engineering specialist Aayush Gupta, Deployment Inc has raised $5 Mn in seed funding from Cars24. With the fresh capital, the AI startup will be looking to bolster hiring, roping in 50 engineers this month alongside AI strategy and go-to-market professionals.
Deployment Inc’s business model will revolve around a team of forward deployed engineers (FDEs), who will work from inside a customer’s organisation, solving fragmented deployment procedures followed today that involve multiple teams and timelines.
“Every enterprise will soon have access to powerful AI models. The scarce capability will be knowing how to turn them into systems that customers and employees can depend on,” Cars24 cofounder and CEO Vikram Chopra said.
As per the startup, its team of FDEs will solve specific, high-value workflows and agreed business metrics, connecting necessary models to the company’s data and systems. Further, it will deploy the new workflow, benchmark it against existing processes and remain involved until it operates reliably at scale.
To note, Deployment Inc has been selected as an OpenAI Select Partner for enterprise deployments, allowing it to use the AI giant’s frontier capabilities alongside its own engineering and implementation expertise to build production AI systems for customers.
The new venture sprouted from the AI operating model Cars24 has built internally to streamline its workflows. With AI in the loop, Cars24 claims that service-request turnaround time has fallen from 32 hours to 30 minutes, while inspection times have halved. It claims that its engineering team’s output has now been enhanced 3X.
The launch comes amid a broader shift in India’s enterprise tech sector, where enterprises are moving from proof-of-concept AI experiments to production-grade deployments. However, these deployments tie up significant resources, and most enterprises currently don’t have existing teams that can own the entire process.
Consecutively, FDEs have emerged as a critical layer that can help frontier AI models to work reliably within a company’s existing workflows, data infrastructure and business processes. FDEs combine software engineering with product thinking and customer-facing problem solving to customise AI deployments for specific enterprise use cases.
This has led to a huge demand in FDEs globally, with fresher salaries spiking to ₹9 Lakh – ₹12 Lakh annually, while mid-level professionals can command packages ranging from ₹25 Lakh to ₹40 Lakh.
The growing emphasis on FDEs also reflects a broader shift in the enterprise AI market from selling AI capabilities to taking greater ownership of whether those capabilities actually translate into measurable business outcomes.
