A government doctor posted at the Jogipet Area Hospital in Sangareddy district, Telangana, was suspended after an inquiry found that he skipped night duty and arranged for a private individual to perform duties in his place.
K. Ramesh, Deputy Civil Surgeon (General Medicine) at the Jogipet Area Hospital, was scheduled for night duty on Wednesday (August 5, 2026). However, a private individual, who was not employed as a government doctor, was allegedly found performing duties in his place.
Taking a serious view of the incident, Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha directed Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu to order an inquiry. An inquiry committee subsequently examined the matter and confirmed the allegations against Dr. Ramesh, following which the government issued orders placing him under suspension.
The Health department has also decided to initiate criminal action against the private individual who allegedly performed duties in place of Dr. Ramesh. The Sangareddy District Hospital Superintendent was directed to furnish details of the individual to facilitate further action, a senior health official said.
