The Lok Sabha on Friday (August 7, 2026) passed The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026. The Bill, which replaces the 2006 Act, provides for the notification of a national digital platform for the free and voluntary registration of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned till 11 a.m. on August 10.
Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, on Friday reiterated his demand for the Union Home Minister Amit Shah to deliver a statement on police action against protestors on July 20. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told the protesting Opposition members in the Lok Sabha that, Opposition can not decide when a Minister would attend the House. Mr. Kharge, claimed that the Chairperson, C.P. Radhakrishnan, had issued a direction to Mr. Shah; however, Mr. Rijiju refuted the claim. Mr. Rijiju said that that RS Chairman did not give direction to any Minister to be present in the House.
“I think he (Union Home Minister Amit Shah) is afraid to come (to Parliament). He is not coming for some reason. He should come, he should answer, and he should make a statement. What is the big deal in that? If something wrong has happened, then take responsibility”, said Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said in RS on Friday (August 7, 2026) that RS Chairman gave no direction to any Minister to be present in the House, in reply to Opposition’s demand for Home Minister Amit Shah’s presence in the House.
Mr. Rijiju said the Home Minister is always present in Parliament from the morning. However, a Minister attends the House only when a scheduled business demands their presence.
Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan directed Mr. Rijiju to “echo the sentiments of the Opposition” to Mr. Shah on Thursday (August 6). Mr. Radhakrishnan said that the Opposition had been asking the Home Minister to come to the House. “Now I request you to consider his (Kharge’s) request. He requested that the Home Minister come to the House... As Parliamentary Affairs Minister, you can echo the sentiments of the Opposition to the HM,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju told the protesting Opposition members in the Lok Sabha that Home Minister Amit Shah has been coming to Parliament every day and it is not right to be protesting over his name every day. “Amit Shah ji is such a person whose name itself is enough to make terrorists shiver,” said Mr Rijiju. - Sandeep Phukan

According to Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, the legislation seeks to address the sector’s liquidity concerns by mandating all Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) to route invoice settlements through the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) for the procurement of goods and services from MSMEs.

The Lok Sabha on Friday (August 7, 2026) is scheduled to take up The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026 and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026.
Congress MP Manickam Tagore moved an adjournment motion in the Lok Sabha to discuss the “police action” against “students” during a protest held at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20, 2026.
Mr. Tagore has demanded a comprehensive statement from Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the incident, which he alleged involved the use of disproportionate force against demonstrators, including women.
“Reports and allegations arising from the incident have raised serious concerns regarding the nature and proportionality of force used to disperse the protesters. It has been alleged that lathi charges, pellet guns, tear gas, and water cannons were used against students, including women participants, resulting in injuries and widespread public concern. These allegations require a full, fair and transparent examination,” the notice stated.

Congress MP K.C. Venugopal moved an Adjournment Motion notice in the Lok Sabha to discuss what he described as “shocking revelations” of massive financial fraud and embezzlement of public donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
In his notice, Mr. Venugopal alleged, “There is an urgent need to discuss the shocking revelations of massive financial fraud, theft, and embezzlement of public donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Recent reports indicate a highly organised racket operating within the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, where bundles of cash and valuable jewellery donated by millions of devoted citizens have been systematically siphoned off.”
He further alleged a coordinated effort to cover up the irregularities, saying, “The deliberate destruction of 7 to 8 months of crucial CCTV footage to cover up these crimes, coupled with the unceremonious removal of the former Chief Accounts Officer who red-flagged these irregularities as early as 2020- 21, points to deep-rooted institutional complicity.”
The Congress leader dismissed the existing investigation by the State government as “mere eyewash”.
