As the ECI SIR in Karnataka comes to an end, the names of 87.5% of voters have been digitised in Belagavi district.
There are 41,07,000 voters in the 18 assembly constituencies in the district.
As many as 5.13 lakh voters have been marked in Absent, Shifted, Dead, Duplicate and others (ASDDO) category.
Using the 2002 SIR documents and existing electoral rolls, Booth Level Officers have distributed 41,07,000 enumeration forms. Of these, around 38,43,780 have been mapped. Around 35,94,820 forms were returned. Of them, 35,89,825 have been digitised. As many as 4,455 forms are yet to be digitised.
The district average of those left out of the exercise is around 12.5%.

Activists have expressed concern at the high level of voters left out of the exercise.
“A large number of voters are yet to fully understand the SIR process. They need time to prepare documents sought for inclusion. We have written to Chief Electoral Officer V. Anbukumar seeking an extension of the deadline,” said M. M. Makandar, convenor of the SIR awareness committee.
District electoral officer Mohammad Roshan said the ASDDO list had been shared with political parties.
Voters and Booth Level Agents have been requested to check the list again, and submit any objections to the BLOs or higher officers.
He said that some loopholes were found in the voter information mapping process. The BLO has given special training to booth level officials on how to correct the mistakes in the names of the voters.
With the objective of completing the SIR process in a transparent and flawless manner, strict scrutiny is being done at all stages. The final voter list will be published after considering the objections of the political parties, he added.
