Superintendent of Police (Prakasam) V. Harshavardhan Raju has urged the public to go beyond planting saplings and to take ownership in safeguarding them. As part of ‘Mission Harithandra’, Mr. Raju launched the tree plantation drive by planting a few saplings at the District Police Office here on Wednesday.

While several such drives were taken up in the past, Mr. Raju pointed to the need of safeguarding them up to a certain stage and taking the responsibility for their growth in the initial stages. “Growing trees gives life to fellow creatures and strengthens the biodiversity around us. The earth will be cleaner and greener with so many trees in our vicinity,” Mr. Raju said.

He also cautioned the public to consciously reduce the usage of automobile fuel by curtailing unnecessary travel and to totally shun the use of one-time plastic.

Additional Superintendents N. Yugandhar Babu (Administration), Ch. Venkateswarlu (Crime), Deputy Superintendents R. Srinivasa Rao (Ongole) and K. Srinivasa Rao (Armed Reserve) were among those present.
