
A 49-year-old woman was killed after a Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus veered off the road and hit her on the national highway at Pudukad in Thrissur, Kerala, on Monday morning.
The victim, Sindhu, wife of Royson of Porantharappilly House, Kanjur, Pudukad, had accompanied her daughter to the highway to see her off on a bus.
After her daughter left, Sindhu was walking back to her scooter when the KSRTC bus, which had just begun its trip from the Pudukad depot to Chalakudy, suddenly swerved out of control and crashed into a roadside shop. Sindhu was hit by the bus and died on the spot.
According to local residents, the driver is believed to have suffered a sudden medical emergency while at the wheel. Eyewitnesses said he appeared to have collapsed before the vehicle lost control.
Sindhu’s body was shifted to the Pudukad Taluk Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
