The Congress high command approved the inclusion of 20 legislators in the Cabinet in Karnataka on August 3. An expansion of the Cabinet was expected. The Congress has included 10 new faces in the Cabinet.

On August 3, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar got a letter with the list of names of legislators that have been approved for inclusion in the Karnataka Cabinet.

The Congress high command has also approved the names of legislators who will be the candidates for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the legislative Assembly and Chairperson and Deputy Chair the Council.

The names proposed for the posts of presiding officers in the Assembly are G.S. Patil (Speaker) and A.S. Ponanna (Deputy Speaker)

The names proposed for the posts of presiding officers in the Council are Saleem Ahmed (Chairperson) and Umashree (Deputy Chairperson).

The legislators are expected to be sworn in on August 3 in Bengaluru. The Bengaluru traffic police has issued an advisory for motorists.
