The real issue is the lack of decent employment opportunities. We saw this clearly in Uttar Pradesh in 2017, when more than two lakh people applied for peon posts. Many applicants held qualifications such as PhDs, MTech, BTech, MCom and BCom degrees. When highly educated people apply for peon jobs, it shows they are unable to find work that matches their qualifications.
