Cadres of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) made a vain bid to storm the venue of the JSW Rayalaseema Steel Plant in Jammalamadugu constituency of Kadapa district, which is set to start its construction work on Friday (July 3, 2026).

The delegation led by former minister Sake Sailajanath, former MLC P. Ramasubba Reddy, district party president P. Ravindranath Reddy and state spokesperson Rachamallu Sivaprasad Reddy tried to take a march to the spot, on Wednesday (July 1, 2026), but was prevented by the police for not taking prior permission.

Mr. Ramasubba Reddy had already said the project was a result of efforts made during the YSRCP regime led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, and accused the present NDA government of taking undue credit for it.

The police, deployed in strength, thwarted the attempt to storm the venue. The police said the situation remained largely under control.
