Congress leader Manish Tewari on Thursday (July 2, 2026) posted a cryptic message on social media after being left out of the party’s organisational reshuffle in Punjab, saying he wished he had “an antidote for the insecurities of individuals and institutions”.

Mr. Tewari, the Chandigarh MP and former Union Minister, shared on X The Hindu’s report on the Congress’s Punjab revamp, which said he had been “left in the cold” as the party announced new working presidents and election panels ahead of the 2027 Assembly election.

“Hai bada koi avgun usme jise koi hunar aave (loosely translated as ‘if a person is talented, society usually finds fault with him),” Mr. Tewari wrote on X. “Wish I had an antidote for the insecurities of individuals and institutions!”

Without elaborating on the remark, he added that the Congress had given him “enough over the past 45 years” and that he had devoted his entire adult life to the service of the party. “Que sera, sera. Whatever will be, will be,” he said.

The Congress had on Wednesday (July 1, 2026) announced its election-related committees for Punjab ahead of the 2027 Assembly election, while retaining Amarinder Singh Raja Warring as president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee and Partap Singh Bajwa as leader of the Congress Legislature Party, ending speculation over a possible leadership change in the State unit.

Former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi was appointed chairman of the campaign committee, while former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa was named chairperson of the core committee. Vijay Inder Singla will head the election management and coordination committee, and MP Amar Singh, the manifesto committee.
