An Assistant Executive Engineer in the Irrigation Department was caught by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while allegedly accepting a ₹2 lakh bribe in Aswaraopeta of Bhadradri Kothagudem district on Monday (June 29, 2026).
The accused, Latchubukta Srinivas Rao, was serving as Assistant Executive Engineer in Irrigation Sub-Division I, Aswaraopeta. According to the ACB, he was caught red-handed at the office of the Deputy Executive Engineer, Irrigation Sub-Division I, while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe from a complainant.
The ACB alleged that the official demanded the money in return for granting permission to excavate and transport soil from Donthikunta Tank, located adjacent to agricultural land belonging to the complainant’s uncle at Aswaraopeta village, for filling pits in the farmland.
Officials said the tainted ₹2 lakh was recovered from the possession of the accused. The ACB alleged that the officer abused his official position by improperly and dishonestly seeking an undue advantage.
The accused was arrested and is being produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases, Warangal. Further investigation is underway.
The ACB withheld the identity of the complainant for security reasons and urged members of the public to report demands for bribes through its toll-free helpline 1064 or other official grievance channels.
