The jungle camp at Masjid Gadda urban forest park is being handed over to a private bidder six-and-a-half years after its launch at Shamshabad close to Pedda Golconda exit of the Outer Ring Road.
The camp was relaunched, after renovation, on Monday, June 29, 2026, by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of Forest Force C. Suvarna, who said the camp will be available in full scale and with modern facilities by July 20, 2026.
In addition to the eight existing cottages, 10 more camping tents will be established at the camp, along with a canteen, Yoga centre, wellness centre, five-kilometre walk, cycling track, watch tower, eco-tourism zone, and adventure programmes.
A programme titled ‘Junior Rangers’ is being launched with the aim to enhance awareness about nature, forests and biodiversity among students, Ms. Suvarna informed.
An adventure sports organisation named Freakouts Adventures has secured the bid though tender process, to manage the jungle camp under ‘License to Operate’ mode.
Works such as additional tents, multi-purpose hall, development of lake and beautification are being taken up at an expenditure of ₹5 crore.
Masjid Gadda was part of the 94 urban forest parks planned for development across the State between 2015 and 2020. It was developed in 180 hectares of forest block at ₹4.34 crore expenditure. The park had two areas designated as Adventure Zone and Jungle Camp. It had tracks for walking, running, cycling, besides camping facilities, adventure sports, children’s play areas, gazebos, multi-purpose sheds, and other facilities for the visitors.
