The South Coast Railway (SCoR), Vijayawada Division, has asked freight customers to submit new proposals, so that the Indian Railways can focus on strengthening industry partnership, developing infrastructure facilities and using digital technology.

Speaking at the business development meeting with freight customers, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mohit Sonakiya said the Vijayawada division was playing a vital role in freight transportation in SCoR.

The division is transporting coal, fertilisers, cement, foodgrains, iron ore, aluminium powder and laterite through 24 private sidings and terminals and 29 freight-handling goods sheds.

“During 2025-26 financial year, the Vijayawada division loaded over 40.64 million tonnes of goods, generating freight earnings of about ₹4,136 crore. Freight customers are requested to collaborate with the Indian Railways by suggesting innovative logistics solutions and identify the untapped traffic areas,” Mr. Sonakiya said.

The railway officials asked freight customers to ensure the installation of CCTVs at all goods sheds and terminals to enhance safety and security, and to provide digital monitoring at the freight-handling locations.

SCoR Principal Chief Operations Manager Vineet Kumar, Principal Chief Commercial Manager K. Sambasiva Rao, officers D. Satyanarayana and Chaitanya, and leading freight customers took part in the meeting.
