A 19-year-old college student allegedly ended her life in BCM girls’ hostel at Vishwa Nagar in Sedam town of Kalaburagi district in Karnataka on June 24.

The deceased has been identified as Chandrika Thippeswamy, a resident of Hanganahalli village in Sedam taluk.

Chandrika was a first-year B.Sc. student at the Government First Grade College in Sedam. According to preliminary reports, she had been staying in a separate room in the hostel due to health issues.

The incident is suspected to have taken place after 10 a.m. when she was alone in the hostel room. The exact reason behind her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Following the incident, Circle Police Inspector Mahadev Diddimani and Police Sub-Inspector Upendra Kumar visited the spot to conduct a preliminary inspection.

A case has been registered at Sedam Police Station.
