Speculation is growing over the next Chief Secretary of Telangana after Sanjay Jaju, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Telangana cadre, has been repatriated to Telangana on Tuesday.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved repatriation of Mr. Jaju, who is presently the Secretary in the Ministry of Development of North East Region. He has been on the Central deputation for more than 15 years.

His sudden repatriation is also interesting as the present Chief Secretary Ramakrishna Rao will complete his extension on June 30, and so far no file has been moved to the Centre for another extension. Mr. Jaju worked as the Commissioner of the then Municpal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) before it was changed to GHMC. He also worked as the District Collect West Godavari and Commissioner of Vishakapatnam.

Other two officers of the 1992 batch also in the race are Jayesh Ranjan and Vikas Raj. Mr. Jayesh Ranjan is currently serving as the Special Chief Secretary for Metropolitan Area and Urban Development in Telangana, as well as holding additional charges for Sports and Tourism. Mr. Vikas Raj is serving as the Special Chief Secretary to the Transport, Roads, and Buildings (TR&B) Department.
