AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday pulled up the TVK regime for not showing enough attention to procured paddy and protecting it from getting damaged in the latest spell of rain in the State.
In a statement, he referred to reports that around one lakh bags of paddy were damaged in Kumbakonam and a few neighbouring places. Likewise, Virudhunagar, Ranipet, and Kancheepuram had reported instances of such paddy bags. This had happened because paddy, procured many months ago, had not been sent to mills for hulling.
Referring to the visit of a couple of TVK Ministers to some of the rain-hit areas in Thanjavur, Mr. Palaniswami said a mere visit would not solve the problem. He called for immediate measures to protect procured paddy.
