Vizianagaram District Collector S. Ramsundar Reddy on Monday (June 22, 2026) said fertiliser allocation would be done online in the Kharif season to ensure adequate supply in accordance with the extent of the farmers’ landholding.

Speaking to The Hindu here, he said the system would ensure transparency in allocation and avoid possible chaos at fertiliser distribution points and the branches of the Vizianagaram District Marketing Cooperative Societies.

Normally, the district requires around 88,000 tonnes of fertiliser during the Kharif season. The farmers have to register their names under E-Panta to get the allocated fertiliser. He said the farmers could order the allocated quota of fertiliser based on their requirement.

Mr. Ramsundar Reddy farmers were being advised to select the right crops, given the El Nino impact and the rainfall forecast of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) .He said the government had allocated ₹149.84 crore to 2,27,700 farmers under the PM-Kisan and Annadata Sukhibhava schemes.

Cheepurupalli MLA Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao said the agriculture department had been asked to suggest short-, medium- and long-term crops so that farmers would get an income through the year.

“The farmers can utilise water supplied through Thotapalli reservoir at optimum level although there is a possibility of drop in rainfall due to the impact of El nino. The commercial crops require less water quantity compared to paddy. The farmers can change their crop plans after taking suggestions from agriculture officials and scientists,” Mr. Venkata Rao said.
