Telugu Desam Party (TDP) women leaders condemned the remarks made by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former Minister Gudivada Amarnath against Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha.

Addressing a press conference at the TDP office on Sunday (June 14, 2026), they accused Mr. Amarnath of crossing the limits by resorting to personal attacks against the Home Minister. Political criticism should be limited to policies, governance and administrative decisions, and should not target individuals, they said.

Demanding an apology, TDP leader Anantha Lakshmi said Ms. Anitha had been working for the welfare of the State since assuming office. Mr. Amarnath should remember that women deserved respect, and that he too had women in his family, she said.

The leaders said insulting women for political gain should not be tolerated. One of the major reasons behind the YSRCP’s electoral defeat was its alleged disrespect towards women, they said, adding that the party had failed to learn any lessons and continued in the same style of politics.
