Labhu Ram, a 2004 batch IPS officer, has been appointed as Special Officer to Home Minister Priyank Kharge, a special post created for the officer.

Retired IPS officer Kempaiah was an advisor to then Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Mr. Labhu Ram, who was IGP (Central Range) was appointed as the State Intelligence Chief in April 2026, in an overnight change shunting out S. Ravi from that post. However, Chandragupta replaced Mr. Labhu Ram as the intelligence chief last week, after Mr. Siddaramaiah stepped down as Chief Minister and D. K. Shivakumar took charge.

Mr. Labhu Ram has also been posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Police Computer Wing, Bengaluru, replacing Director General of Police Pronab Mohanty, who headed the Wing till recently, until he was transferred as the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
