Ending months of inconvenience and waiting for Mumbaikars, the Aqualine, or Mumbai Metro Line 3, announced mobile connectivity inside the metro rakes on Thursday (June 11, 2026).
So far, commuters travelling on the Aqualine have faced complete loss of network while travelling in the fully underground Metro. Authorities said that the telecom services will be rolled out in a phased manner.
“Leading telecom operators have commenced activation of their networks in a phased manner across the Aqualine. Airtel and Vodafone Idea have successfully switched on their mobile services in Phase 1 of the corridor, covering the section from SEEPZ to BKC. Mobile signal is now available at all stations within this stretch. Vodafone Idea is extending services in Phase 2A up to Acharya Atre Chowk and is targeting coverage up to Cuffe Parade shortly, while Airtel aims to complete its rollout by the end of June,” an official press statement said.
The service provider Jio is also expected to start its deployment by July, as its survey has been completed.
“Network rollout activities are progressing on priority, and passengers are expected to receive full mobile coverage along the complete stretch from Aarey JVLR to Cuffe Parade within the next month. In the interim, efforts are continuing to strengthen and expand connectivity across all sections of the line,” officials said.
Aqualine or Mumbai Metro Line 3, is a 33.5 km underground metro line that connects Aarey Colony in north Mumbai to Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai. The line was launched last year.
