The Andhra Pradesh Congress on Thursday (June 11, 2026) condemned the rejection of its leader Meenakshi Natarajan’s Rajya Sabha nomination from Madhya Pradesh.
At a meeting at the party office, Andhra Ratna Bhavan, chaired by former MLA Mastan Vali, the party leaders termed the decision unjust, saying there was no case, FIR or chargesheet against Ms. Natarajan, and alleged that the rejection of her candidature amounted to an insult to women.
They accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of double standards, saying Parimal Nathwani, a Rajya Sabha candidate from Jharkhand, was reportedly given 24 hours to rectify deficiencies in his nomination, while Ms. Natarajan was denied a similar opportunity.
The party demanded that the ECI review and reverse the decision to safeguard the credibility and impartiality of the electoral process.
Senior leaders Kolanukonda Shivaji, Naraharasetti Narasimha Rao, P. Y. Kiran Kumar, Gangishetti Ayyappa, A. K. Ansari, Manda Hatheendra, M. K. Beg and others attended the meeting.
