Around five months after Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro was abducted in a dramatic raid by the United States military, the country’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez will pay a visit to India from June 3 to 7, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced here.

“Her Excellency Ms. Delcy Rodriguez, the Acting President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela who was earlier scheduled to visit India to participate in the International Big Cats Alliance summit on June 1, which has been deferred, will pay a working visit from June 3 to 7,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal informed the media on Tuesday.

Ms. Rodriguez will be accompanied by Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Finance, Science and Technology, Communication and Information and Transportation.

During the visit, the Acting President will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Jaiswal said. The discussion between Mr. Modi and Ms. Rodriguez will include the “full spectrum” of India-Venezuela relations and explore further avenues of relation in energy, trade, pharmaceuticals and renewable energy.

Ms. Rodriguez has visited India five times in the past and this will be her sixth trip to the country. She visited India earlier representing the Maduro government as Foreign Minister in 2015 and as Vice-President in 2019, 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Officials stated that apart from New Delhi, Ms. Rodriguez who has been playing a balancing role between the United States and the hardliners in her country, will visit spiritual centres associated with the Satya Sai Baba movement and also interact with industrialists and representatives of oil and gas majors.
