The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday (June 1, 2026) recreated the sequence of events in the Twisha Sharma death case by using a dummy and taking her husband Samarth Singh and mother-in-law retired judge Giribala Singh to their residence in Bhopal where the 33-year-old model-actor was found dead under suspicious circumstances.

Several CBI officers along with forensic experts arrived at Twisha’s marital home with the two accused as well as a dummy similar to the victim’s weight and got them to recreate the events on it.

Visuals from the house’s terrace, where Twisha was found hanging on the night of May 12, showed investigators using the dummy and inquiring the mother-son duo on how they found her and the following events like how they took her down the ligature. The officers will verify the accused’s versions with other evidences gathered in the case such as the CCTV footage as well as the timeline of events.

While her husband has told the investigators that she ended her life at 10.20 p.m., Twisha’s mother Rekha Sharma has claimed that she was on a call with her daughter until 10.05 p.m. during which Mr. Singh could be heard screaming at his wife.

The two accused had been sent to CBI’s custody by a local court for five days which ends on June 2. The CBI had taken over the case from Bhopal Police on May 25 on the State Government’s recommendation. Twisha’s family had alleged various procedural lapses and institutional bias on part of the local police and authorities.

Meanwhile, Twisha’s family members and their neighbours on Sunday (May 31, 2026) evening took out a protest march in their residential society in Uttar Pradesh’s Noida.

The family has accused her husband and in-laws of mental harassment, domestic violence and dowry demands in the five months of marriage while also alleging that she “was murdered by them”.

Currently, the CBI is probing the case under charges of dowry death and subjecting her to cruelty.

While the report of a second postmortem, conducted by an expert team of AIIMS Delhi on Madhya Pradesh High Court’s directions, is still awaited, the first postmortem conducted by AIIMS Bhopal doctors noted the cause of death to be “asphyxia due to antemortem hanging by ligature”. The report also revealed that six other antemortem injuries were found on Twisha’s body.

The CBI had on May 27 told the High Court that the accused had not provided any explanation of these injuries.
