Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L. Murugan is entering the fray from Avanashi (Reserved) constituency and BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran from Sattur constituency in Virudhunagar district, shifting from his home turf of Tirunelveli.

Similarly, Congress announced its list of candidates for 27 out of 28 Tamil Nadu Assembly constituencies allotted to it by the DMK for the upcoming polls. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) president K. Selvaperunthagai has retained his seat in Sriperumbudur constituency. New entrant G.K.M. Tamil Kumaran, son of former Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president G.K. Mani, has been given the Pennagaram seat despite severe opposition from some senior leaders.

The Madras High Court has initiated suo motu contempt of court proceedings against Felix Gerald, a YouTuber who is now a member of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), for an interview he previously conducted with YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar alias A. Shankar with respect to G-Square Realtors Private Limited.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing deep anguish and concern over the Union government’s introduction of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) (FCRA) Amendment Bill, 2026, in Parliament.

Mr. Stalin contended that neither the Union government nor States possessed the capacity to replace the educational, medical, and charitable services rendered by non-profit organisations.
