The Arya Vysya community has objected to remarks made by political analyst and YouTuber ‘Punch’ Prabhakar against their leader and former Rajya Sabha member T.G. Venkatesh. Community leaders have urged the government to take action against those who make derogatory remarks about the community’s leaders.
Addressing a media conference in Kurnool, Mr. Venkatesh, who is also the Chairman of the Arya Vysya Mahasabha, and Mahasabha State president I. Lakshmaiah objected to the analyst’s criticism of the community.
Mr. Venkatesh said ‘Punch’ Prabhakar was mistaken in claiming that he had made remarks against the Reddy community. “It is foolishness on the part of Punch Prabhakar to claim that I made these remarks against the Reddy community,” he said.
Mr. Venkatesh demanded a criminal case against ‘Punch’ Prabhakar. He said the community would fight for its rights under the banner of a Rights Struggle Committee and would press for action against him.
“We will organise district-wide protest programmes against Punch Prabhakar Reddy,” he said.
AP Arya Vysya Mahasabha president I. Lakshmaiah said ‘Punch’ Prabhakar had spoken about the Arya Vysya community in a derogatory manner. He said the Mahasabha would file complaints against anyone who made disparaging remarks about Mr. Venkatesh or the community.
