Prices of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) were hiked for the fourth time on Tuesday (May 26, 2026) in the last eleven days across Delhi and varied parts of North India – the latest by ₹2 per kilogram (kg) as pressures related to input gas costs emerge in the backdrop of the conflict in West Asia.

CNG in the National Capital territory of Delhi now costs ₹83.09 per kg.

With Tuesday’s (May 26, 2026) price increase by Indraprastha Gas Ltd, which is the largest city-gas distributor in Northern India, prices of CNG have effectively risen ₹6 per kilogram spanning across four tranches.

The first of these was put forth on May 15 – when prices were increased ₹2 per kg. Thereafter, across two tranches prices were raised by ₹1 per kg each on May 17 and May 23 respectively.

Fuel prices up ₹7.5 in 10 days after fourth hike by ₹2.8 per litre

Price hikes by IGL largely mirrors that of other city-gas distributors operating in the country who have hiked prices in scattered piecemeal manner.

In fact, on Monday (May 25, 2026), Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL), which is the largest city-gas distributor of Mumbai, was called to discontinue all support schemes and subsidies for their commercial customers with immediate effect.

The company attributed it to the “ongoing geopolitical situation and its impact”.
