An Air India Express Boeing 737-800 operating from Muscat to Kannur on May 15, 2026, aligned with the runway edge lights during take-off, treating them as the runway and damaged multiple runway lights in the process.
The incident led to a hydraulic leak and a flat tire, and the crew rejected the take off after hearing a “big bang” and an alert in the cockpit.

Oman’s air accident investigation body has reported that the occurrence was rated an accident and is being investigated. The aircraft has been grounded in Muscat for over nine days.
