A forest fire that broke out in the hilly terrain of Undavalli in Amaravati capital city in Guntur district on Sunday (May 24, 2026) night was brought completely under control, with officials urging local residents not to panic as precautionary measures remain in place. This place is very close to the camp office of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.

Mr. Chandrababu Naidu closely monitored the situation and spoke over the phone with Guntur District Collector C.M. Sai Kanth Varma and senior fire services officials regarding the incident in the Undavalli hills. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the blaze had been fully contained and posed no immediate threat to nearby residential areas.

According to officials, fire and emergency personnel rushed to the spot with fire engines immediately after receiving information about the incident on Sunday (May 24, 2026) evening. Firefighters acted swiftly to prevent the flames from spreading towards colonies and inhabited areas near the foothills. The fire reportedly moved close to a church in the vicinity, but the fire personnel managed to extinguish it promptly using fire engines and hose lines.

Authorities stationed two fire engines near the Kummarigunta tank, close to Undavalli, to respond swiftly if required. Officials assured the Chief Minister that no houses were under threat and that teams remained on high alert. The Chief Minister directed authorities to remain vigilant until the fire was completely extinguished and arrange additional fire vehicles from other regions if necessary, while ensuring regular public updates to avoid panic.
