Innovaccer acquired CaduceusHealth, which brings 200 employees as well as $5 Bn in annual medical billing

With this move, the healthtech firm aims to expand its Flow healthcare intelligence platform into full-stack revenue cycle management

This development marks Innovacer’s fifth acquisition in two years as the company is betting big on AI to automate healthcare workflows

Healthtech unicorn InnovaccerInnovaccer Datalabs_in-article-icon has acquired the assets of US-based revenue cycle management (RCM) services provider CaduceusHealth, marking its fifth acquisition in the last two years.

In a statement, Innovaccer said that the acquisition will help it expand its Flow software platform into full-stack revenue cycle management for outpatient and ambulatory care. As per a report by ET, the deal valued CaduceusHealth at $66 Mn.

Founded in 1997, CaduceusHealth provides outsourced revenue cycle management (RCM), medical billing, and clinical staffing solutions to about 4,000 healthcare providers across the US.

The company claims to manage $5 Bn in gross patient charges annually. By absorbing the firm, Innovaccer will integrate CaduceusHealth’s 30-year database of specialised medical codes and localised insurance guidelines directly into its AI platform.

According to Innovaccer, payer denials and insurance rejections cost US healthcare providers around $20 Bn every year. Its AI-native Flow platform, built to unify fragmented data from legacy systems onto a single cloud platform, aims to significantly reduce inefficiencies in the process.

“This acquisition represents a structural shift in how revenue cycle performance gets managed with a single system that pairs AI-driven automation with expert human oversight, learns your payer mix, anticipates denials before they happen, and closes revenue gaps at a scale no billing team could reach alone,” the company said.

Innovaccer, founded by Abhinav Shashank, Kanav Hasija and Sandeep Gupta in 2014, helps healthcare organisations streamline their data to improve patient care and operational performance. Its healthcare intelligence cloud and data activation platform integrates information from electronic health records, claims, financial and operational systems into a single source.

The startup claims it serves over 200 health systems and payers across the US, including Kaiser Permanente, Adventist HealthCare, and Banner Health among its key customers. It has raised more than $650 Mn in capital and was last valued at $3.2 Bn. Most recently, it raised a $275 Mn Series F funding round led by B Capital Group.

Of late, Innovaccer has been aggressively pursuing an AI-led strategy to build automated workflows for healthcare providers. It has been on an acquisition spree to support this AI-led strategy. It acquired AI-enabled specialty care startup Story Health and Humbi AI (actuarial and contracting copilots) last year, and Cured (patient experience and CRM) and Pharmacy Quality Solutions (pharmacy performance) in 2024.

Amid this strategic shift, Innovaccer has also carried out multiple rounds of layoffs – three over the past four years to be precise. The most recent restructuring earlier this month saw 340 employees lose their jobs. The restructuring exercise comes amid the startup’s bid to transition into an AI company.
