A massive fire broke out in a container truck carrying cars near Nagulapally village in Toopran mandal of Medak district on Thursday afternoon, gutting eight new cars being transported to a showroom.
The incident occurred on National Highway 44 while the truck was travelling from Nagpur to Kakinada. Police said the driver and his assistant managed to escape from the vehicle in time, preventing any casualties or injuries.
According to officials, the blaze rapidly engulfed the container truck, destroying the vehicles loaded inside. Two fire engines were rushed to the spot, and firefighters battled the flames for nearly two hours before bringing the fire under control. The incident caused major traffic congestion on the busy highway, with police and local authorities temporarily halting vehicular movement and diverting traffic to clear the stretch.
Videos circulating on social media showed the truck completely charred, including the carrier structure, vehicles inside and the driver’s cabin. Preliminary investigation indicates that the fire may have been triggered by a mechanical failure. A detailed inquiry is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
