
The draft notification for the delimitation of wards in Kurnool Municipal Corporation (KMC) was issued on Monday (May 18, 2026). Objections, suggestions, and feedback on the proposal to delimit the present 52 wards into 68 will be accepted until 5 p.m. on May 24, 2026.
KMC Commissioner Challa Obulesu released the draft on Monday, in the presence of in-charge city planner Y.V. Venkataramana and others. Mr. Obulesu said the State government had issued GO No. 65 on March 24, 2026, for the ward delimitation. “The draft was prepared based on the population of the city as per 2011 population census. The city population is 4,77,718 as per the census. Apart from this, the geographical, administrative and local requirements were taken into account for the delimitation exercise,” he said.

Mr. Obulesu said that of the 68 wards, 42 would fall under the Kurnool Assembly constituency, 22 under Kallur Urban in Panyam constituency, and four in Kodumur Assembly constituency. Officials said that of the 52 existing wards, 33 were in Kurnool Assembly, 16 in Panyam, and three in Kodumur.
The draft notification will be exhibited at the notice boards of the KMC office, the District Collectorate, the Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) office, tahsildar offices, and sub-registrar offices. The general public, elected representatives, political parties, and representatives of civil society could submit objections or suggestions in writing at the city planning wing of the KMC office before 5 p.m. on May 24, the Commissioner said.
Mr. Obulesu said the ward delimitation would be carried out transparently and with citizen participation.
