A bicycle rally was organised by the Krishna Milk Union in Vijayawada on Monday (May 18) to promote fuel conservation and to create awareness among the public on fuel-saving measures.

The rally commenced from the One Town Vijaya Milk Factory and passed through KBN College, APSRTC bus station, Krishna Lanka, and Besant Road before concluding at the Lenin Centre. Vijaya Dairy staff, participated in the event covering a distance of nearly 15 kilometres.

Chalasani Anjaneyulu, union chairman, said that initiative was taken up in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for fuel conservation. He said that cycling not only improves health but also helps reduce fuel consumption.

Highlighting the concerns over fuel consumption in the country, Mr. Anjaneyulu announced that the Krishna Milk Union staff would cycle to work at least once every week. He further added that the sales team members would carry out their duties within the city on bicycles once a week. Officers and employees of other departments have been urged to commute to work using bicycles or other non-fuel modes of transport at least one a week.
