Conservative media personality Bill O’Reilly said Monday that voting for New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is “an act of evil.”

“It is going to be anarchy and blood in the streets, and anybody who votes for that Mamdani is, in my opinion, committing an act of evil,” O’Reilly told NewsNation’s Leland Vittert on “On Balance.”

“Pull the lever for that man, you are responsible for what happens later,” he added.

Mamdani, a democratic socialist, shocked political observers in June by defeating political heavyweight and former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the New York City Democratic primary.

Mamdani holds a notable lead in the race among the field of four people for the mayoral race, however, the lead shrunk in hypothetical head-to-head matchups, according to polling released Tuesday.

In a New York Times/Siena University poll, Mamdani led with 46 percent, over 20 points more than his next closest competitor, who is Cuomo, with 24 percent. Republican Curtis Sliwa garnered 15 percent, while Mayor Eric Adams (D) got 9 percent.

Last Friday, President Trump seemed resigned to “a communist in New York City” after Adams announced plans to continue campaigning in spite of White House calls for a one-on-one race between Cuomo and Mamdani.

“He’s free to do what he wants,” Trump said of Adams when talking to reporters.

“It would seem to me … that the only way you’re going to beat the communist — because you have a communist running. Which is fine. I’ll have to deal with a communist in New York City. I never thought that was going to happen. … It would seem to me that if he stays in, if you have more than one candidate running against him, it can’t be won.”

The Hill has reached out to Mamdani’s campaign for comment.
