England’s Harry Hall features among a six-way tie for the lead after the first round of the Sony Open in Hawaii.

The 27-year-old carded 10 birdies on Thursday to nab a share of the lead at six under par.

He had multiple opportunities to nab the outright lead, but was hampered by bogeys on the fourth and 17th holes, along with a double bogey on the eighth.

Hall shares a one-shot lead with Adam Schenk, Eric Cole, Denny McCarthy, Tom Hoge and Henrik Norlander.

Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama carded a three under 67 following his record-breaking victory at the first tournament of the calendar year last week.

His score of 35 under for The Sentry set a PGA Tour record for the lowest 72-hole score in relation to par.
