Joan Laporta responds to fan’s request for Barcelona to sign Nico Williams

Barcelona president Joan Laporta is currently on holiday in Sardinia where he’s been spotted by a fan and asked about the speculation surrounding a move for Nico Williams.

Laporta was asked if Barca would be signing the Athletic star this summer and answered “We will try.” The video has since gone viral on social networks.

Barcelona fans have been getting excited about the prospect of Williams arriving, with some supporters even sending in donations to try and help land the Euro 2024 winner.

Laporta has already said he thinks Barcelona can afford to land Williams, prompting huge optimism among the fanbase that a deal can be done for the Spain star who thrilled at Euro 2024.

Williams has a release clause of around €55 million which Barcelona will need to activate to bring him in, although the Athletic forward is thought to be keen to head to Catalunya and play alongside good mate Lamine Yamal.
