Donald Trump Shooting Live Updates: In his first statement after an assassination attempt on him, US presidential candidate Donald Trump appealed for national resilience, saying it was “more important than ever that we stand United”,  the Associated Press reported. Senior advisers of Trump’s campaign also said that he was in “great spirits” and “doing well”, in a memo accessed by AP.  Earlier, the FBI had identified the person who shot at the former US president during an election rally in western Pennsylvania on Saturday as a 20-year-old man, Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Trump, sharing details about the attack in Butler, Pennsylvania, on his Truth Social platform, said, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.” “Much bleeding took place,” he added. According to a statement by the Secret Service, the shooter was dead, one rally attendee was killed and two other spectators were injured. The incident is being investigated as an assassination attempt, the FBI has said.\n

Republican lawmakers have said that they would investigate how a person managed to evade Secret Service agents and climb onto the roof of a building during the election rally, and fire multiple shots, news agency Reuters reported.
