WhatsApp feature update to allow Meta AI to reply to photos sent by users, edit them: Report – Technology News

After introducing Meta AI in WhatsApp, it looks like WhatsApp will allow Meta AI to edit and reply to pictures. Reportedly, WhatsApp is working on bringing a feature to allow Meta AI to reply to photos and edit them.

The new feature is expected to help get insights about the shared pictures. The new proposed feature can also allow you to edit the pictures shared. In addition to this WABetaInfo has also shared screenshots of the AI feature, highlighting its capabilities and workings.

    Meta AI introduces new updates

As reported by WABetaInfo, which is a WhatsApp update tracker, the new feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta for Android version  However, the feature is expected not to be made visible in the release, since the feature is still under development.

The WABetaInfo report highlighted that WhatsApp is testing the implementation of a new chat button to allow users to manually share photos with Meta AI. The feature is expected to be scheduled for release in a future update of the app. With this new capability, you will be able to ask questions about their photos. This can include features such as identifying objects or providing context about a certain picture. For example writing a photo story or writing a caption related to a picture.

Furthermore, Meta AI will also offer the feature to make changes to photos. This will allow you to edit the images directly within the chat by sharing a prompt. This eventually ensures that you can maintain complete control over your photos. Additionally, you will also be able to delete them at any time.

    Other updates

As reported by WABetaInfo, the level of editing that the AI model can make is not known. Rumours suggest that Meta AI could support basic edits such as improving the lighting, cropping, removing background objects, and more. Furthermore, it may also offer advanced AI editing such as changing the background and adding more effects, which is quite similar to Magic Editor offers in compatible Pixel smartphones.

In the screenshot, a description of the feature highlights that the photos sent to Meta AI will be analysed, including facial features. However, it is not clear whether deleting the image will also delete it from Meta AI’s database. The release date for the features is not known at the moment, WABetaInfo concluded. Currently, you can create an image with the prompt ‘@imagine me’ with Meta AI.
