Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani Visit 10 Janpath, Invite Gandhis to Wedding in Mumbai Next Week

Reliance Industries Limited chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani and son Anant Ambani met former Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday at her residence, 10 Janpath.

According to sources, they presented Gandhi with an invitation card to Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding on July 12.

Anant, the youngest son of Mukesh Ambani and Reliance Foundation chairperson Nita Ambani, and Radhika, the daughter of industrialist Viren Merchant and Shaila Merchant, will tie the knot at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.

The wedding ceremonies will begin on July 12. The first event will be the auspicious Shubh Vivah or wedding function. The dress code is Indian traditional.

July 13 will be the day of Shubh Aashirwad and the dress code is Indian formal. July 14 will be the Mangal Utsav or the wedding reception and the dress code is Indian chic. All these functions will be held at the Jio World Centre in BKC.

Three-day pre-wedding gala in Jamnagar with who’s who

Earlier, the three-day gala pre-wedding celebrations took place in Jamnagar, Gujarat, in March and featured high-profile guests such as Meta’s founder Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft’s Bill Gates.

The event also included a spectacular performance by popstar Rihanna, along with Bollywood artists such as Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan.

All three nights of celebrations were themed. Day 1 was called An Evening in Everland, with the dress code listed as “elegant cocktail”.

Day 2 saw A Walk on the Wildside with “jungle fever” as the suggested dress code. It was held outdoors in the Ambanis’ animal rescue centre in Jamnagar, and guests were advised to wear comfortable shoes and clothing for this event.

Invitees then swapped their safari-themed outfits for more elegant ones for Mela Rouge. The dress code for this was “dazzling desi romance”, suggesting glamorous traditional South Asian attires for all.

The final day comprised two events. The first one, Tusker Trails, suggested “casual chic” dressing, as guests were expected to further explore the green ambience of Jamnagar.

The final party, Hashtakshar, called for an elegant evening with heritage Indianwear.

About Anant, Radhika, and their bond

Multiple media reports have claimed that Anant and Radhika have been friends since their childhood. It was in 2018 that people came to know about their relationship. A photo of them lost in each other’s eyes surfaced online and went viral which brought their bond into the spotlight.

Although the couple had not shed light on their relationship at the time, Radhika would often attend the Ambani family’s intimate events. She was present at Isha Ambani’s wedding with Anand Piramal, which took place in 2018, and Akash Ambani’s wedding with Shloka Mehta, which happened in 2019.

In January this year, Anant and Radhika got engaged in an intimate ceremony at the family’s residence in Mumbai, Antilia.

The couple had a ‘roka’ ceremony in December 2022 at the Shrinathji Temple in Nathdwara, Rajasthan.

The youngest son of Nita and Mukesh Ambani, Anant Ambani, attended Brown University in the US. He is the executive in charge of Reliance Industries Ltd.’s energy division.

Anant serves on the boards of Reliance Retail Ventures and Jio Platforms, the group’s telecom and digital business.

Radhika is the younger daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare Pvt Ltd, and entrepreneur Shaila Merchant. A political and economics graduate from New York University, she is a Director at Encore Healthcare Private Limited.

Radhika’s pursuits are not limited to business. She is also a trained Bharatnatyam dancer who received her training under Guru Bhavan Thakar of Shree Nibha Arts Dance Academy of Mumbai.
