Apple To Include Slimmer Models In IPhone 17 Series, Thinner MacBook Pro & Apple Watch Might Also Arrive: Report

Apple’s iPhone 17 series is likely to be released next year but the details regarding the plans have already surfaced online. As per Bloomberg, Apple is working on the iPhone 17 to make it even slimmer than the previous versions. Apple is also planning to slim down the upcoming Macbook Pro and Apple Watch. Earlier last month, the tech giant launched a redesigned model of the iPad Pro. It became the slimmest tablet to come from the house Apple so far.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPad Pro is not going to be the only device which is expected to be upgraded with a slimmer chassis. He cited unidentified sources while saying that Apple is ‘focused’ on developing the iPhone 17 lineup, expected to hit the market in 2025.

Some of you might remember that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus both measure 7.8mm in thickness. On the other hand, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max measure 8.3mm in terms of thickness. At the moment it is unclear whether Apple will equip the Pro models with a slimmer chassis or not, akin to the new iPad Pro (2024) models.

    MacBook Pro To Become Slimmer

Apple is reportedly developing a slimmer version of the MacBook Pro, according to Gurman. The current MacBook Pro model with the M3 chip and a 16-inch display is 1.68cm thick when closed, while the smaller model is 1.56cm thick.

The recent MacBook Pro models, since 2021, have become thicker due to the reintroduction of MagSafe charging, an SD card slot, and additional ports. In contrast, the MacBook Air models maintain a slimmer design with fewer ports.

Additionally, Gurman mentions in his newsletter that the Apple Watch is also expected to get a slimmer chassis in its next update. This is supported by TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who predicts the Apple Watch Series 10 will feature a thinner design and possibly a larger display, up to 49mm.
