Naseeruddin Shah recently made headlines when he called out films like ‘The Kashmir Files’, ‘The Kerala Story’ & ‘Gadar 2’, and said that ‘it’s a dangerous trend’ that such films are doing well. Even Kiran Rao made a similar comment at a recent event without naming any particular films. She reportedly said, ‘When it is a really regressive sort of messaging, and it makes hundreds of crores, it hurts.’ Now some of the directors of the aforementioned films have responded to the opposing views that a certain section has against their films. Responding to Naseeruddin’s statement, ‘Gadar 2’ director Anil Sharma reportedly said ‘Gadar 2 is a patriotic film, and I request that he should watch the film first, and I’m sure he’ll change his opinion. I want to tell everyone that when Anil Sharma makes a film, he makes it paisa vasool. Main shiksha ke liye films nahi banaata. I just want to entertain people…’ Sudipto Sen, director of ‘The Kerala Story’ reacted to Naseer’s statement and reportedly told a news portal ‘I respect Naseer ji, but calling my film jingoistic is such an irresponsible comment from someone who hasn’t even watched it yet.’ Even ‘The Kashmir Files’ director Vivek Agnihotri lashed out at the ‘Sarfarosh’ actor in a recent interview as he said ‘Perhaps he likes to support terrorists, I don’t. I don’t even care what Naseer says because I have zero tolerance for terrorism, maybe he loves them, and I don’t care.’ Puneet Issar who acted in ‘The Kashmir Files’ reportedly said ‘Naseeruddin Shah is the idiot of the highest order, and just a lose cannon. He is such a great actor and I respect him, but this is just not done. His statements are very uncalled for. He has got verbal diarrhea.’For more news and updates, stay tuned to ETimes.
