Luna-25 probe encounters disruption during pre-landing orbit entry

A disruption was encountered during the Luna-25 probe's attempt to enter the pre-landing orbit, according to Roscosmos.The command to enter the orbit was issued at 2:10 p.m. Moscow time.Unfortunately, an unexpected issue prevented the probe from executing the maneuver as planned. Roscosmos stated that their experts are currently investigating the situation.

"Today, in accordance with the flight program of the Luna-25 probe, at 2:10 p.m. Moscow time, a command was issued to the probe to enter the pre-landing orbit. During the operation an emergency occurred on the space probe that did not allow it to perform the maneuver in accordance with the required parameters," Roscosmos said.

The Luna-25 probe had been launched via the Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle from the Vostochny cosmodrome on August 11 and had previously performed trajectory corrections on August 12 and 14. The probe successfully entered lunar orbit on August 16.
