Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was the star for the Men in Blue in two World Cup triumphs. He was one of the best performers in India’s title win in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007. The veteran was named the Player of the Tournament in the 50-over World Cup in 2011.

He was diagnosed with cancer post the 2011 World Cup and was ruled out of action for a long time. When he made a comeback in 2012, he lost his firepower with the bat. Yuvi was not able to cement his place on a permanent basis.

Yuvraj Singh played his last one-day international against West Indies in 2017, the same year in which he recorded his highest 50-over format score, 150 against England.

The southpaw was given a chance in T20Is but he failed to win games for India. Yuvraj recently spoke about Virat Kohli’s role in his comeback to the national team.

“When I made my comeback, Virat Kohli supported me. I returned to international cricket because of his help. However, it was MS Dhoni, who told me that selectors were not interested in me for the 2019 World Cup,” he told News18.

Yuvraj also said that Dhoni changed after India’s win in the 2011 World Cup.

“He trusted me a lot till the global event in 2011. I was his main player. However, things changed when I returned to the team after recovering from cancer. The game had moved on so I can’t point fingers at someone for my omission from the 2015 World Cup. Dhoni changed but I can understand as you can’t justify everything as a captain. The performance of the team matters,” he added.
