Barcelona have made some important strides in the pursuit of Vitor Roque lately. With Xavi Hernandez keen on beefing up his options in the final third, the club are desperately trying to get hold of the Brazilian whizkid.

Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Vitor Roque over personal terms, but securing a deal with Athletico Paranaense is proving to be difficult, with the two clubs in a disagreement over transfer fees.

Barcelona are not willing to meet Athletico PR’s valuation. Even if they do agree to pay a hefty amount, the club cannot afford to offer a cash deal and are likely to ask to pay in at least four instalments.

With that in mind, there is a possibility Vitor Roque might not join the club this summer. That has been highlighted in a recent report from MARCA.

The report suggests Roque will not join Camp Nou this summer. This is because the club are not in a position to make the economic reservation for the player, in light of their high salary mass. Barça must find a way to further trim their squad before they can register the youngster.

MARCA further reports Barcelona are trying to secure a January deal for Vitor Roque. The club reckon they will be in a position to register the player during the winter transfer window, as it will allow them ample time to get rid of unwanted stars.

The overall valuation of the deal is likely to be around ̉€30-35 million, which is reasonable considering the player’s limitless potential. It must also be noted that Roque himself has played a big role in forcing through a move to Camp Nou, having rejected all the offers from other European clubs.

But the deal is far from done and it will be interesting to see how things transpire in the coming weeks.
