Australia defeated India by 209 runs to win the World Test Championship in London. It was the second edition of the global tournament. The International Cricket Council started the championship in 2019 to keep the longest format alive and kicking.
However, former England captain Eoin Morgan feels Test cricket is again facing challenging time. He said losing Kohli as a captain was a huge loss for red-ball cricket.
“Test cricket is the ultimate format but it is again facing challenging time. Red-ball format has lost Virat Kohli as a captain. He was passionate about this format. He spoke about his love for Test matches,” Morgan was quoted as saying by the Mirror.
Thr right-hand batter was vocal about the importance of five-day format. He was the fourth most successful Test captain with 40 wins from 58 games.
Kohli left the captaincy after losing a Test series to South Africa. Morgan credited Ben Stokes for re-igniting fans’ interest in the format.
