Indian equities ended lower for the second straight day on Thursday in highly volatile trade due to selling in banking, metal and energy counters amid a mixed trend in the global markets. Sensex declined 194 points to settle at 62,428.54. Nifty ended below 18,500 levels, down 46.65 points. Nifty Bank also saw sharper losses, nonetheless, broader markets logged gains, with Nifty Midcap 100 ending 0.15% higher.

“ Overall, we continue to maintain our positive outlook on the index for a target of 18,800 from a short-term perspective. In terms of levels, 18,460 – 18,420 shall act as the crucial support zone while the hurdle zone is placed at 18,600 – 18,660,” said Jatin Gedia, Technical Research Analyst, Sharekhan by BNP Paribas.
