128kg Gold, 150 Cr Cash Found with Tirupati Priest

Images claiming an income tax raid at the home of Tirupati Balaji Temple priest Shekhar Reddy are going viral.

The posts allege that 128 kg of gold, ₹150 crore in cash, and diamonds worth ₹77 crore were found. However, these claims are false, and the images are unrelated.

Fact-checkers found that the first image, showing gold and jewelry, is from a robbery case in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Police recovered the stolen items after a theft at a Joy Alukkas showroom.

The second and third images, showing cash and gold bars, are from a 2021 raid at perfume trader Piyush Jain’s house in Kanpur. Officials seized ₹250 crore in cash, 25 kg of gold, and 250 kg of silver hidden underground.

Shekhar Reddy, a former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board member, was previously involved in an income tax raid in 2016. However, a court cleared him in 2020 due to a lack of evidence.

These viral posts mix unrelated events and spread misinformation. Officials have confirmed that the images are not connected to Tirupati Balaji Temple or its priests.
