1000 Crore Film: Why Tamil Industry Failing?

1000 Crore Film: Why Tamil Industry Failing?

Suriya’s much-awaited Kanguva is releasing in 3 days but the film is facing unexpected troubles. The film is expected to be the first 1000-crore film from the Tamil industry but it seems like their own industry people are killing it.

Kanguva is finding it tough to get big capacity screens in Tamil Nadu, with Sivakarthikeyan’s Amar doing extraordinary business and likely to continue in its third week.

While the screen count will be 50% of Tamil Nadu’s available ones, the gross capacity will remain at 40% or below for Kanguva, which is unfortunate.

In October, Kanguva was forced to delay its release date due to Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, which turned out to be a flop film. A good date was wasted on Vettaiyan, which was neither a proper commercial film nor an artistic one.

Now Kanguva is getting only 50% of the available screens in Tamil Nadu due to Amaran.

Kanguva and its team are aiming to take Tamil cinema to the next level and they deserve more support from the industry, especially given the ambition and effort put into the project.

Maybe this is the reason why Tamil cinema is struggling to deliver a 1000-crore blockbuster, unlike the Telugu or Bollywood industry.

Big dreams need unconditional support but sadly Kanguva is not getting any support from its own industry.
