100-Cr Hero Struggling: Can Rashmika Mandanna Save?

Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Supernatural Universe recently announced eight new films. A few of them are sequels and the others are new entries introducing new characters.

One of the installments is titled Thama, which will feature Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna as the leads. The latest update is that the former will start shooting for the film in Delhi during the first half of this month.

Ever since the film was announced, it has created headlines, specifically for the people involved. This includes director Aditya Sarpotdar, who helmed Munjya in the past. Niren Bhatt has penned the screenplay. The upcoming film is a love story, which will feature vampires.

Ayushmann’s casting in the film has also led to more excitement among the audience and it is expected to mark another comeback for the actor.

Ayushmann used to deliver films that grossed almost Rs. 100 crores at the box office. However, he started to struggle after the COVID-19 pandemic since the subjects of his films were not liked by the audience, specifically since people have watched such content on OTT.

While the lineup of flops continued, Dreamgirl 2 managed to leave a positive impression and was able to recover its budget.

Considering the popularity of Maddock Supernatural Universe, it seems like Ayushmann has the perfect opportunity to deliver more hits in the upcoming years, starting with Thama.

There is also Rashmika, who has become a popular face among the Hindi audience after Animal and Pushpa 2: The Rule. Even if Ayushmann is ignored by the viewers, they will come to watch Rashmika. Now it remains to be seen if the script and screenplay can keep everyone engaged.
