Today, the High Court of Telangana directed the Assembly speaker to make a decision on the fate of the BRS MLAs who recently defected to Congress, within four weeks.
If the speaker fails to act within the given timeframe, the High Court will treat the matter as a suo motu case and proceed with further investigation.

This order came after hearing cases filed by BRS and BJP leaders against MLAs Danam Nagender, Kadiyam Srihari, and Tellam Venkat Rao, who switched to Congress.
After these cases were filed, seven more MLAs defected to Congress, bringing the total to 10 MLAs who switched parties after the assembly elections.

BRS leaders are now confident that by-elections will be held. Meanwhile, here’s a look at the defected MLAs and their constituencies:
1. Danam Nagender – Khairatabad
2. Kale Yadaiah – Chevella
3. Kadiyam Srihari – Station Ghanpur
4. Tellam Venkat Rao – Bhadrachalam
5. T Prakash Goud – Rajendranagar
6. Arekapudi Gandhi – Serilingampally
7. Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy – Gadwal
8. Pocharam Srinivas Reddy – Banswada
9. Sanjay Kumar – Jagtial
10. Gudem Mahipal Reddy – Patancheru

The fate of their positions will be known in less than a month. It has to be seen if the speaker decides on their case or lets the High Court proceed with its investigation.
